Words

Today the words did not come easily.

I have had a million ideas about what I wanted to write about in my slice.  No one idea stood out as "the one,"  so I have put off writing my post hoping for inspiration.

Today the words did not come easily.

My inspiration came from going back and looking at the comments that have been made on my writing so far.  If we ever doubt the impact our words have on each other (and our students), we need to remember the absolute hopefulness we feel when someone takes the time to read and comment on what we post!  Our words were enough to connect us.

Today the words did not come easily.

But that's okay.  I know that they WILL come and I will trust in myself and this community...

Any day the words do not come easily.

  1. Exactly--when the words don't come easily, you write anyway, and the rest of us, we understand. It happens to us all!

  2. Some days they don't come as easy as the others, but remember this writing thing is "seeping into you," it's not a flood. The words will come and you will be ready to tell the tale. I loved the repeated phrase, it added power to your thoughts.

  3. Thank you for your kind words, Elsie. You're right about it not being a flood, but it would be nice to have a steady trickle! :)

  4. Thank you for being brave and posting on the difficulty of this challenge. I feel it too. I'm trying to remind myself that it's good if I struggle with it and to use that struggle to reflect upon how to help students who also struggle. What strategies can I give them/myself for the times I'm blocked? I'm hoping to have some answers to that question in a few weeks. Fingers crossed.

  5. Hi, Dana. Thank you for telling me you feel it too! I think you are so smart to be thinking in this way! Our reflection on what works for us in choosing a topic, in powering through blocks, in procrastinating (like I did today), and a whole host of issues that we probably haven't come up against yet will show our students what might also work for them. My fingers are crossed for us both. Thanks for your comment!

  6. Loved this post even if the words didn't come easily. As Deb said, no matter what, just write. And guess what? Every writer has been there, when the words won't fit together just the way you want them to, but it's all about making that connection. And you have made that a connection! Bravo for still writing today!
